Screw conveyors
have been a popular material handling mechanism throughout history. One type of screw conveyor, perhaps the best known is the archimedian screw contained within a tube to raise water. They are used in many bulk handling industries. Screw conveyors in modern industry are often used horizontally or at a slight incline as an efficient way to move semi-solid materials, including food products, granules, powders, grains and many others.

auger screw

Euroflow Engineering use this principle to accurately control the delivery of various dry and semi-liquid products when dispensing by using an auger feeder.

The screw is contained within a vertical cylinder and turned to allow an amount of product to be delivered.
